We have everything from our own chamber orchestra, to jazz, bluegrass, country, R&B… not to leave out some good old rock and roll. Here you can listen to Latin fusion at a downtown cafe, then catch a show of Irish traditional music at the University of Florida. And there’s more…Gainesville has developed it’s own vibrant electronic music scene complete with the grand opening of ESHQ – Elestial Sound East this year.
There’s everything from free concerts at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza downtown to world class performances at the Curtis Center for the Performing Arts. There’s no doubt that we have tremendous diversity in music styles and venues!

“In 2008, Gainesville was named the best place in the U.S. to start a band, which means that it’s also one of the best places to watch one. With over 50,000 college students populating the area throughout the school year, and dozens of venues to see live bands, Gainesville is highly underrated as a music hub. With such a rich music past, think Tom Petty, Stephen Stills and Bo Diddley, it will be no surprise when some of tomorrow’s best bands call Gainesville home. You’ll want to say, I saw them when.” Visit Gainesville
